Programs & Events Each year, the Chamber hosts a variety of events and programs to educate, inform and encourage members to strengthen business connections. Descriptions for each event in the 2008-2009 program year are included on this page. Please click on the event category below to jump to a list of events of that type. Relationship-building events: AM/PM Business Connection Speed networking for busy professionals. Participation is limited to 49 people. Held every other month in January, March, May, July, September and November. Presented by First Tennessee. 2008-2009 events: Back to top Chamber’s yearly celebration event highlighting outstanding volunteers with the "Spirit of the Chamber" Awards, and outlining the vision for the coming year. Average attendance: 600. Held annually in September/October. Presented by Fifth Third Bank. Next event: September/October 2009 Back to top CEO Speaker Series Quarterly luncheons featuring keynotes from experienced CEOs sharing stories of best practices and lessons learned. Average attendance: 350. Held three times a year in February, April and June. Next event: Thursday, Feb. 12 Back to top Face2Face Face2Face is a new series of six free networking events. Plans include offering Face2Face once a month, December through May, with a new location and a new area targeted each time. According to the capacity of each site, there will be limited registration for this members-only event. Next event: Thursday, Jan. 22 Back to top Future 50 Awards Program and awards dinner recognizing the 50 fastest-growing privately held businesses headquartered in Middle Tennessee. Average attendance: 800. Program begins annually in May with the call for nominations, followed by the presentation of awards in September. Presented by Bank of America. Next event: September 2009 Back to top Member Orientation Information sessions over lunch for new members and new employees of existing members outlining advantages of Chamber membership. Average attendance: 50. Held 10 times a year, every month except July and December. Presented by First Tennessee. 2008-2009 events: Back to top Golf outings consisting of nine holes of non-competitive play designed to promote relationship building in an alternative setting. Average attendance: 30-40. Held four times a year in April, May, September and October. Presented by First Tennessee. Next event: April 2009 Back to top Regional Business After Hours The Chamber's largest networking/exhibitor event, held in unique partnership with multiple chambers of commerce across the region. Average attendance: 1,200 people and 200 exhibits. Held annually in November. Presented by First Tennessee. Next event: November 2009 Back to top Business growth and development events: 12 @ 12 Successful local business leaders will share advice in small group settings of up to 12 over a noontime lunch at this event designed for small business owners. Expected attendance: 50-60. Held four times a year in January, March, May and October. Presented by our Small Business Programs Partner, First Tennessee. Next event: Wednesday, Jan. 21 Back to top Business Growth Series Open to both presenters and attendees, this "Ask the Expert" series of hands-on, interactive workshops provides an opportunity to learn about the factors that influence successful small businesses. Average attendance: 30. Call for presenters: July/August and December/January. Workshops held in January, March, May, July, September and November. Presented by our Small Business Programs Partner, First Tennessee. Next event: Wednesday, Jan. 16 Back to top Cool School Workforce recruitment and retention training for employers using Nashville's recognized progressive image and authentic vibe. Average attendance: 40. Held twice a year in March and October. Next event: March 2009 Back to top HR Building Blocks A four-part topical series focused on employers' needs in workforce management and human resources. Average attendance: 75-100 per session. Held four times a year in January, March, May and November. Sponsored by Baker, Donelson, Bearman, Caldwell & Berkowitz, PC. Next event: Thursday, Jan. 22 Back to top International Business Council Specialized forum to assist local businesses in beginning or expanding existing international trade. Average attendance: 50-75. Held at various times throughout the year. Next event: Thursday, Jan. 29 Back to top Roundtables This confidential forum of leaders from non-competing businesses will regularly meet in small groups to share and gain practical knowledge and counsel. Four available Roundtables: CEO, Marketing, CFO and Manufacturing. Average group size: 12, with a total of 100 participants. Held year-round, with an occasional event for all participants. Back to top Small Business Council This council champions the growth and development of small business by providing education resources, advocacy and fostering business development through relationships and networking. Its signature event is the Informed & Inspired Speaker Series. Average attendance: 50-75. Held six times a year in February, April, June, August, October and December. Presented by our Small Business Programs Partner, First Tennessee. Next event: Wednesday, Feb. 25 Back to top Young Professionals Networking and educational offerings specifically aimed at Middle Tennessee's next generation of key leadership. Programs include the Nashville Emerging Leader Awards (NELAs), YP Week and various networking events. Average attendance varies from 50 to 250. Held several times a year in February, May, August, September and November. Presented by Vanderbilt University Owen Graduate School of Management. Next event: TBA Back to top Community issues and action events: Area Business Councils Geographically specific advocacy and business issue groups led by local business owners and leaders for the purpose of solving problems, discussing issues and implementing special projects. Average attendance varies from 30 per individual council to more than 100 for joint functions. Events are held year-round. Presented by our Small Business Programs Partner, First Tennessee. Next events: Back to top Business Outlook Summit This first-ever signature event focuses attention on key busienss and economic trends for Nashville-area businesses - by sector, size and type. Business leaders eager to gain insights for the year ahead will find this major event a must-attend for 2009. Expected attendance: 250-300. Held annually in January. Next event: Thursday, Jan. 15 Back to top Education 2020 Speaker Series Topically based keynote speakers will present innovative ideas and initiatives in education reform for an audience of business leaders, Metropolitan Nashville Public Schools decision makers, elected officials and community educators at all levels. Expected attendance: 100. Next event: TBA Back to top IntraCity Visit Hosted by the Area Business Councils, this full-day tour will provide hands-on experience to discover the communities and grassroots issues in each area. Average attendance: 55. Next event: TBA Back to top Leadership Study Mission A launchpad for tackling issues facing the Middle Tennessee community and business leaders in the near- and long-term by traveling as a group to another U.S. city to examine best practices and lessons learned.
